By removing vertical play, this “pinchless” design helps avoid any unpleasant pinching or collapsing that can occur in standard Waterfords. The series of smooth oval links discourages horses from bracing or leaning, as there’s no rigid surface to latch onto.
The Nelson gag cheekpiece combines the lifting effect of a gag with the stability of full cheek bars, offering excellent directional guidance and control. This makes it ideal for horses that need balance, elevation, and clear rein signals.
